Butte Irish win a pair in Wyoming

A weekend road trip to Wyoming proved exactly what the Butte Irish needed to begin November. After dropping eight straight games last month the Irish took all four points this weekend with victories over the Sheridan Hawks (3-1) and Yellowstone Quake (4-2).

Bryce Hodges scored twice while Jacob Avgustovskiy added another to give Butte a 3-0 advantage on host Sheridan Friday night. Jackson Wagner shut down the Hawks offense for 54 minutes before a late goal wiped out his shutout bid. Wagner finished the game with 46 saves.

Koll Tait, Jack Whitelaw (2), Keegan Adams, Griffin Wendell and Kaleb Ivens all chipped in with assists in the Sherdan win.

On Saturday the team traveled to face Yellowstone who had won their previous two games. Goaltender Jackson Wagner again got the nod in net for Butte and repeated his stellar performance of the previous night with a 49-save effort.

Cohen Weiderick scored first before a pair of goals from Jack Whitelaw helping the Irish to a 3-0 lead. The Quake rallied in the final frame with a pair of goals, but Whitelaw closed the show with an empty net goal to complete his hat trick with 2:04 remaining in regulation.

Avgustovskiy chipped in with a pair of helpers against Yellowstone for a three-point weekend. Wendell, Hodges, Weiderick and Teddy Dugan also found the score sheet.
