15 games, 15 wins. A dream season that began in early December came to a conclusion on Sunday when the Iowa Demon Hawks defeated the previously unbeaten Rochester Lancers 8-3 in the Major Arena Soccer League 2 championship game.
The Demon Hawks and Lancers were two of the seven teams that met at Hartman Arena in Park City, Kansas over the weekend for a single-elimination playoff. Iowa earned their way to the title game with a 9-3 victory over the St. Louis Ambush 2 before an 11-7 win against the Amarillo Bombers.
Rochester eliminated the Iowa Raptors on Friday winning 6-3 then won an overtime thriller against the host Wichita Wings 10-9 on Saturday night.
Bruno Henrique Teixeira, who was named MASL 2 Playoffs MVP, scored three times for the champion Demon Hawks in the final. He added three goals and two assists in the previous two games.
Thiago Frieitas added a pair of goals and two assists to lead all scorers in the championship game. Murilo Ceruli, Lucas Silva and Joao Vitor also scored for the Demon Hawks.
