Whitby Steelhawks claim ALL Cup

Liam Osbourne scored five goals and added an assist while teammate Colton Lidstone scored once while assisting on seven goals helping the Whitby Steelhawks to a 14-12 victory over Oshawa Outlaws in the Arena Lacrosse League Cup championship game. The title was the second ALL Cup in Steelhawks history, their first coming in 2018.

The game was tightly contested throughout with the top seeded Steelhawks leading 4-3 after one quarter then 8-6 at the halftime break.

Lidstone opened scoring in the second half to give Whitby a three-goal advantage for the first time. It wouldn’t last though as Oshawa battled back throughout the period. Gareth Haigh beat the horn to close out the third quarter with the Outlaws trailing 10-9.

Josh Gilray evened the score early in the fourth before a three-goal run by Whitby saw the Steelhawks in front 13-10. Nikolai Farrus scored what turned out to be the game winner at 5:27.

For the runner-up Oshawa Outlaws, the game marked the first ALL Cup Final appearance since 2017 when they claimed the first-ever league championship.
