Regular season pennant winner Steinbach Huskies stormed through the 2022-23 campaign going 21-2-0-0 before booking their spot in the Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League Finals by eliminating the Niverville Clippers in five games. The club now turns their attention to the finals where they face the second seeded Red River Mudbugs.

The road to the finals was a bit rougher for the Mudbugs, but the team is now where they expected to be. Red River faced off with the Macdonald Swarm in the quarterfinals where they dropped Game 1 and Game 3 only to battle back and win the final two games of the series and move on.
In the semifinals the Mudbugs took on the Springfield Xtreme who finished just one point back in the regular season standings. After winning the first game Red River lost three straight and faced elimination only to battle back and win three in-a-row, including a 5-4 overtime win in Game 7.
