69 cars were on track for the Rocktoberfest 300 enduro race on October 1 at Dells Raceway Park. The 300-lap race was the sixth of the Impact Survival Series seven-event season. Karl Genett of Rangeline, Wisconsin dominated the race, lapping the entire field to easily take home the $3,000 prize.

Starting on the outside of row three, Genett was in front of the pack most of the race. Kyle Reidner (Waunakee, Wisconsin) was the early race leader after quickly making his way to the front from the 21st spot of the starting grid. By lap 90 Reidner had been overtaken by the eventual race winner. Mechanical issues eventually cost Reidner who finished in 28th place.
“Winning an enduro was always a goal of mine,” commented Genett. “I’ve tried a handful of times and never felt like I had the right scenario play out to make it happen. I finally put myself in good equipment and knew I could take care of the rest. Had some a lot of things go my way, had some contact here and there but kept the car clean and came out with a win and the first time I’ve made it all 300 laps.”
Strarting 26th Isaac Bray (DePere, Wisconsin) wasn’t far behind and was a factor the entire day. Bray raced with the leaders throughout. He was consistently in the top three finishing the race in third one lap down.
Series points leader Justin Schelitzche had a tough draw, but worked his way through the field from his 35th starting position. Once he made his way to the field the Waconia, Minnesota native fought desperately to get back to the lead lap on race for the win. A difficult task with 68 other cars racing on the 1/3 mile track in Wisconsin Dells.
ISS enduro rules do not allow caution flags during a race. If a car is forced out of action the driver is removed from the vehicle, but his car stays on the track and becomes another obstacle.
Schelitzche managed his way into the top ten over the first 100 laps. He was fifth when the red flag came out on lap 143 and continued his charge forward, but was not able to get back to the lead lap and finished runner up.
With an enduro victory in hand Genett had an eye on the future following the race.
“Finally able to check that box, and possibly the last time I may ever race again. Thinking about going back into retirement to spend time with my family. End it on a high note again.”
