A familiar face will be skating in an Isanti Outlaws sweater this fall. Head Coach Don Babineau has signed local skater Peyton Andrews for the 2022-23 season. Andrews is a recent graduate of Cambridge-Isanti High School.
“We are excited to have Peyton on board for the upcoming season,” commented Babineau. “He is a local player that came off a very impressive senior season, coming a game away from advancing to State which hasn’t been done in over 40 years in school history.
Andrews played an important role on his high school team which went 18-8-1 last season that included a share of the Mississippi Eight Conference title. His offensive stats included eight goals and five assists in 27 games.
“He competed with one of our showcase teams a couple weeks ago and looked pretty solid. We thought it would be a good fit in many ways to have him join the team. He has good vision and plays a 200 ft game. He can be very effective on the powerplay as he had a team-best three goals on the powerplay last year. You can see the passion Peyton has for the game. You can tell he’s excited to start his junior career. We look for Peyton to do big things this season.”
Andrews expressed his excitement in continuing his career at Isanti Ice Arena.
“I am excited to continue playing my hockey career here in my backyard,” said Andrews. “It is definitely a hockey town. I went to a showcase not knowing what to expect. The urge to continue my hockey career was almost an instant during that weekend. I like the direction the team is going and look forward to a successful first season of junior hockey with the Outlaws.”
