History was made on June 26 when the champions of ECBL South and ECBL Mid-Atlantic met in the first-ever Super Cup. After four hard-fought quarters it was PrimeTime Players who came away with the trophy defeating Western Mass Zombies 133-129.
Early on the six-time East Coast Basketball League champions were firing on all cylinders as PrimeTime led 32-22 after one quarter. The Zombies cut that deficit by one at the halftime break 66-55.
An early third quarter run had PrimeTIme Players leading by 12 before the Western Mass Zombies offense battled back behind the shooting of Tyler Desrosiers to make it 93-91 with one quarter to go.
In the end the experience and poise of PrimeTime proved to be the difference. The trio of Lysander Bracey, Van Turner and Chris Moore combined to make 13 three-pointers in the game while Trevor Booker (31 points, 26 rebounds, three blocks) and Odell Turner (nine points, 16 rebounds, four blocks) dominated the inside.
Former Hampton University guard Lysander Bracey was named MVP after scoring 36 points while adding six rebounds. The point total equaled his season-high which he previously set on May 1 against the Georgia Fire.
Van Turner finished the game with 26 points while Moore chipped in with 23 points, four rebounds and eight assists. James Murray added nine points with four assists to round out scoring for PrimeTime Players who wrapped up their season with a 15-2 record.
