The 2021 season has seen its share of ups and downs for the PrimeTime Players. Despite the roller coaster ride the five-time ECBL champion find themselves contending for another title. After clinching the Southwest Division title on the final day of the regular season PrimeTime have earned a berth in the Southern Conference final after defeating Georgia Fire 107-105.
The playoffs began on Saturday with Georgia Fire facing Garden City Magic in the first round. Garden City made history themselves qualifying for the playoffs as a first-year club with a 6-6 record. The more experienced Fire proved too tough though winning 119-111.
That set up a rematch between the Fire and PrimeTime who split a pair of games in the regular season. Each team won on their home floor, but this playoff matchup was played on a neutral floor in Charlotte.
A tightly contested game throughout, PrimeTime led at halftime break 57-49. Georgia battled back in the third though outscoring their opponent 37-27, but could not hold in the fourth.
In typical fashion Chris Moore led the PrimeTime offense with a triple-double (12 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists). Van Turner scored a team-high 22 points while Lysander Bracey added 21 points.
Veteran guard James Murray chipped in 18 points and five rebounds while Odell Turner pulled down 12 rebound to go along with 15 points.
With the victory PrimeTime Players (12-3) will meet Carolina Thunder (11-4) for the conference championship on Saturday. Game time at Fort Mill Community Center is scheduled for 5:15 PM.
