It’s league playoff season and the Western Mass Zombies have their sights set on a championship. Finishing with a 9-3 record the Zombies earned a first round bye in the ECBL Mid-Atlantic Conference playoffs. Western Mass will host the second round on June 12.
The team is already busy working on a game plan for their second season with the hiring of former ABA/NBA great Rick Barry. Inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987, Barry will be joining the Zombies front office staff for the 2022 season as a special assistant to the owner and general manager.
“We are very excited to have Rick come aboard,“ said Zombies Owner Bill Bullock. “With his passion and knowledge for the game he is definitely going to be able to help us and from a marketing standpoint, Rick is an absolute genius.“
Currently the coach of the Ball Hogs, Barry will begin his position this September after the BIG3 season wraps up. We will be scheduling a media day early this fall.
“I am excited and honored to be an advisor for the Zombies,” commented Barry. “I look forward to assisting the team in any way possible to promote the game of basketball in the city where it originated.”
Western Mass Zombies return to the floor on June 12 hosting the Mid-Atlantic championship at the South End Community Center. Tickets for the game are just $10 and can be purchased at the Zombie Hideout or online.
