Ben Erwin hat trick powers Northern Hawks past Bandits

Former SIJHL forward Ben Erwin had another big night for the Thunder Bay Northern Hawks scoring a hat trick to lead his team past the Thunder Bay Bandits 4-2.

Drew Safronuk opened scoring in the game on a goal assisted by Devlyn McGwire. Ben Erwin quickly made it 2-0 with help from Stephen Tocheri. An Erwin powerplay tally late in the frame had the Northern Hawks with a comfortable 3-0 advantage at intermission.

The Bandits would score the lone goal of the second period on the powerplay and added another early in the third to make the score 3-2.

Erwin would seal the victory though with his third of the game to help the Northern Hawks sweep the opening series of the LJHL regular season.
