Oregon Tradesmen handle Jr. Blues in series opener

Sam VanderHoeven scored a pair of goals on Friday helping the Oregon Tradesmen (8-5-0-0) defeat St. Louis Jr. Blues 5-2.

After securing a 1-0 lead in the first the Tradesmen exploded for three goals in the second chasing Blues starting goaltender Jeb Lindy after 32 minutes.

Jacob Best, VanderHoeven and Jack Sumner scored in the second, a period which saw Oregon put 16 shots on net while holding St. Louis to just five. Parker Severson closed out scoring with an empty net goal.

The teams meet again Saturday  in Peoria. Game time 1:00 PM.
