2020 has proven to be one of the better seasons for the Waconia Lakers who will make their eighth Minnesota Baseball Association state tournament appearance beginning this weekend. All but one of those appearances have come in the last decade.

Waconia (16-6) finished with a league-best 12-1 record in the Crow River Valley League and the top seed for the Region 7C playoffs. The Lakers went 3-2 in region play, both loses coming at the hands of the Young America Cardinals, to earn the Region 7C third slot for the state tournament.
Up first for the Lakers is a Saturday matchup with the Cannon Falls Bears, Region 5C runner-up. Game time scheduled for 5:00 PM in Springfield. The winner advances to face Region 13C winner Fairmont.
Ranked fifth in the latest MBA Class C poll, Waconia will be among the favorites to be playing in Springfield over Labor Day weekend.
