Alston takes ECBL Week 5 honors

A lighter schedule in the East Coast Basketball League due to COVID-19 health concerns didn’t slow down many of the top performers.

Week 4 POW Chris Moore had another strong game scoring 38 points, seven rebounds and 12 assists. Quincy Washington helped the Florence Wildcats win their season debut with a 43-point effort.

The game between Hampton Roads Warriors and Carolina Chosen Lions is one which caught the attention of everyone involved in the league – and local media – with a half court buzzer beater.

Isaiah Alston was on the losing side of that game, but his performance was worthy of player of the week. A 2015 Rocky Mount High School graduate, Austin scored 43 points, shooting 22-of-39 from the field while adding seven rebounds and five assists.

NOTE: after review of the game video this game result was reversed. Chosen Lions were victorious 130-129.

A second-year guard for the Lions, Alston played one season (2015-16) at UNC Wesleyan.
