Springfield Xtreme (21-3-1-0) were the preseason pick to win the Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League, but had to deal with the Lorette Comets on their heels down to the final week of play. Both teams earned themselves a spot in the playoff semifinals.
For the Xtreme it was team depth and balanced scoring – along with the top goaltender duo in the league – that powered the team to an HTJHL pennant. 11 players had a minimum of 15 points during the 25-game regular season.
In net there was none better the tandem of Trey Blank and Matt Slezak who finished among league leaders in every category. Slezak posted 11 victories with a 1.83 GAA, but it was Blank who was named top goaltender. With nine victories to his credit, Blank posted a pair of shutouts and .933 save% which was second best in the HTJHL.
