Scoring was seen a plenty in Isanti on Saturday night in the USPHL matchup between the host Rum River Mallards and Rochester Vipers. Akhmed Malsagov and Peter Meyer (Waseca HS ’18) each netted a pair to help power the Mallards to a 9-2 victory.
12 Rum River skaters inked their name on the scoresheet including goal scorers Scott Moyer, Matthew Kochanowski, Tanner Hallett, Vladimir Fadeev, and Bowie Slarks. CJ Hoyt and Sam Voss chipped in with three assists each.
With his first period tally Moyer became the fifth Mallards player to notch 20 goals this season. A 2018 Hill-Murray School graduate, Moyer. Meyer also passed the mark with his double, giving him 21 in 37 games played. Malsagov added to his team-leading total now at 26.
First-year goaltender Jason Cooke earned the victory in net for the Mallards stopping 41 of 43 shots.
Rum River (22-16-1) travel on Sunday to Minneapolis where they will meet the Minnesota Mullets (21-14-3) who sit just one point ahead in the West Division standings. Game time at Ridder Arena is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
