Fort Frances Lakers make deadline roster changes

The 2020 Dudley Hewitt Cup host Fort Frances Lakers added some firepower to the roster at the CJHL roster deadline on Friday making two trades in addition to welcoming back a veteran.

20-year old Brett Hahkala is a three-year CJHL veteran who last played for the Lakers in 2018-19. The Fort Frances native posted 22 goals and 50 points in 46 games played last season. Hahkala was previously a member of the 2017 Dudley Hewitt Cup champion Powassan Voodoos (NOJHL).

The Lakers went south of the border to acquire California-born forward Peyton Hughes from the Lewiston/Auburn Nordiques (NA3HL) a 19-year old with 50 CJHL games under his belt in 2018-19. This season Hughes played 29 games with the Nordiques scoring 20 goals and 30 assists.

In a separate deal Fort Frances sent goaltender Dylan Kosik to the Thunder Bay North Stars in exchange for a PDF.
