OCN Blizzard are hosting their main camp this weekend at Gordon Lathlin Memorial Centre.
Four Blizzard all-time greats will be recognized with camp team named in their honour.
Team Keeper: Brady Keeper – a true product of northern Manitoba – the Cross Lake native played Junior B in Norway House then Norman Northstars AAA before his three seasons with OCN. The skilled defenceman was named MJHL MVP his final season. Keeper went on the play NCAA Division I at Maine before making his NHL debut last spring with the Florida Panthers.
Team Randall: Lem Randall played 226 games with the Blizzard posting 207 points. Also attended University of Maine before transferring to NCAA DIvision III Manhattanville College for his final two seasons.
Team Tootoo: Terence Tootoo scored 212 points in his three-year career at OCN. He would turn pro after Junior playing one season in the ECHL. Terence is survived by his younger brother Jordin, also a Blizzard alum.
Team Young: Over five seasons Michael Young won four MJHL championship on his way to become the franchise all-time leading scorer with 310 points in 254 games. Young also had two stints in the WHL during those years playing 17 games. He would go on to the University of Manitoba for one year before turning pro where he played 71 games in the CHL (now ECHL).
