Thunderbirds add Winnipeg skater Cole Sykes

Las Vegas Thunderbirds are pleased to announce the singing of Cole Sykes. The 17-year old Canadian-born skater arrives to the city of lights after playing with Collège Sturgeon Heights Collegiate in the Winnipeg High School Hockey League.

We are very pleased to get Cole, he will bring a ton of energy to our team,” commented head coach Dave Hyrsky. “He will be a great penalty killer for us and once he learns the league will play in all situations.”

Sykes posted six goals and 11 assists in 31 games for the Huskies last season. His team finished third in their division before going 6-1 in the playoffs on their way to the WHSHL Tier 1 championship.

“Cole is a great skater and has loads of character. He plays a very physical game and doesn’t mind getting his nose dirty; he will definitely be a crowd favorite.’
