Pioneer Collegiate Baseball League playoffs began today with the Wild Card Game in Fort Dodge. The host Gypsum Miners faced Peak Prospects, based in Granger (Iowa), who played a half-season schedule in the league.
Although Peak had taken three of four games during the regular season the day belonged to Fort Dodge who took an early 3-0 lead and cruised to a 9-2 victory. They will now face the top team of the summer in Bancroft Bandits (30-5) who set a league record for most victories in a regular season. Game 1 of the best-of three is scheduled for Monday.
