Long-time rivals met on April 28 in Fort Mill (SC). PrimeTime Players hosted the Carolina Crusaders at the Banks Street Gym in yet another edition of their long standing rivalry. This time the game turned into a see-saw affair with PTP eventually coming out on top 114-96.
It was the ECBL Game of the Week streaming live on NetCast Sports and PrimeTime was looking to remain unbeaten. The visiting Crusaders have struggled at times this season with their first half of the schedule full of heavy hitters. A date with their former Southwest Division rival was enough to step up their game this day though. After a dismal first quarter where PTP jumped out to a 33-15 lead the Crusaders fought their way back within two by halftime outscoring the Players 37-21 in the second.
Marcellus Dunn was the driving force for Carolina finishing the game with 49 points and 11 rebounds. Teammates Anton Greer (34 points) and Melvin Rogers (27 points, 13 rebounds) had strong performances to keep the visitors in the game.
The teams battled evenly throughout the third quarter with the home team extending their slim lead to four. It was the fourth quarter that decided this game and PrimeTime Players showed all why they are the team to beat in the ECBL by outscoring the Crusaders 36-22 to pull away for another victory.
Leading the Players in scoring was Diondre Pratt who poured in 46 points and 11 rebounds. Odell Tuner and Trey Suttles each chipped in 32 points with Turner grabbing a game-high 19 rebounds. Veteran Chris Moore added 26 points, 7 rebounds and 15 assists while PJ Heath posted a double-double with 24 points, 11 rebounds.
Next up for PrimeTime Players (9-0) is a showdown with another Southern Conference powerhouse – the Carolina Thunder (8-1) – this Saturday at 6 PM.
