A pair of Palm Beach Hawks vets have committed to attend Florida Atlantic University this fall. Matias Weir and Daniel Hammer both will be lacing up their skates for new head coach Scott Anderson.
Team captain Weir played three seasons in the Hawks program putting up career-best numbers in 2017-18 with 24 goals, 40 assists in 46 games played.
“As our captain this past season I’m very happy for Matis to continue his hockey career at the college level,” said Palm Beach bench boss Don Babineau. “His loyalty to the program is what we seek in the Hawks organization. He was on our top line and power play, effective all season. We wish Matis all the best in his new venture.”
Hammer also spent the past three seasons in the program posting 15 points in 35 games last season.
Babineau thinks highly of Hammer and his future saying, “as an assistant captain last season Daniel was definite a big impact player for us. His leadership on and off the ice was fun to watch. He’s a great kid and will do big things in life. We wish Daniel all the best with his new team.”
