Pikes Peak Miners (32-8-0-0) closed out their regular season with a three-game sweep of visiting Colorado Rampage. The 64 points matches last seasons total when the team claimed its first RMJHL championship.
Jacob May powered Pikes Peak on Friday netting a hat trick in a 5-2 victory over the Rampage. Kole Mudra also put up three points (all assists) while Jimmy Grosklaus earned the win in net making 21 saves.
May continued his scoring tear the following night with a pair of goals and three assists helping the home team to a 9-2 win. Mudra (two goals, two assists), Trevor Checketts (four assists) and Lar Culver (two goals, one assist) all put up at least three points while Jake Komrofske scored a pair in a game where the Miners put 55 shots on net. Joseph Chekan (23 saves) improved his season record to 14-3-0-0 with a league-best .925 save%.
Pikes Peak cruised once again in the Sunday finale winning 7-1. Seven different players scored with Culver (one goal, two assists) leading the way. Grosklaus (16-5-0-0) was the victor once again stopping 22 of 23 Rampage shots.
Pikes Peak will have to wait until next week to find out if they will finish on top of the regular season standings, currently leading Steamboat Wranglers (29-7-0-1) by five points. Steamboat host the Colorado Thunderbirds in a three-game series next weekend.
Thunderbirds make move in bid for third seed
In Breckenridge the host Bolts got off to a good start in the opener winning 8-5. Tanner Caldarola scored twice and assisted on another to lead the offense. Hunter Havice (one goal, two assists) and Luke Marsh (three assists) also had multi-point games.
The home team got off to a 2-0 lead the next night before the Thunderbirds began the fight back. Sean Dekramer, Jesse Totah and Eric Wilson all found the back of the net to take a 3-2 lead with eight minutes remaining in regulation. Lyle Wilkens scored his second of the game for Breck at 16:55 to force overtime and eventually a shootout where the T-birds would pick up the extra point in the standings.

In the Sunday afternoon finale Levi Clemenson netted a natural hat trick powering the Thunderbirds (12-23-0-2) to a 4-2 victory. Scout Stalcup made 29 saves to earn the win.
Breckenridge (11-21-0-6) now hold a two-point lead on the T-birds in the fight for third place. With two games remaining the Rampage (11-24-0-3) are four points back.
