Bolts take point in Steamboat series sweep

Breckenridge welcomed back their Bolts this weekend, in action for the first time in 2018. Idle since December 17, the home team played host to the first place Steamboat Wranglers in a two-game set over the weekend.

In their Friday opener the visitors needed a third period rally to upend the pesky Bolts. Trailing 3-2 heading into the third period, Steamboat scored four times (one empty net goal) to win 6-3. Quinny Baker scored twice while Cooper Davis netted the game winner.

Breck goaltender Declan Rooney helped keep his team in the game making 46 saves, 19 in the second period alone. Final shot totals were 52-31.

The following night in was the Bolts turn for a third period comeback. With the teams tied at 2-2 heading into the final frame Steamboat got goals from Baker and Braeden Gillmore in a :53 span to lead 4-2. After a timeout the Bolts responded just 1:26 late when Kody Goodwin would make it 4-3.

Gavyn Entzminger would tie it scoring his ninth of the season at 16:01 of the third before the game was extended to overtime. The regulation tie would earn a much-needed point for Breckenridge (7-12-0-3) in the RMJHL standings. Fourth place Colorado Rampage (7-13-1-1) are just one point back of the Bolts with the Colorado Thunderbirds still in the hunt for the final playoff position.

Steamboat would end the weekend taking four points though as Nico Hemming scored 1:45 into overtime. Cory Kohut assisted on the winner, his second helper of the game. Donny Nordstrom (1 goal, 2 assists) led all scorers with three points.

Tanner Caldarola score twice for Breckenridge to bring his season total to 11 goals.
