New Gulph Hurricanes General Manager Bill Wallace didn’t take long to look for ways to improve the roster making several roster changes this week. Wallace took over duties from Steve Marshall on December 3 and four days later made a trade with the Thorold Blackhawks acquiring Matthew Chard.
At just 17-years old, Chard has already made a mark in the GOJHL scoring five goals and seven assists in 23 games played. Last season the Cambridge native played 38 games with the Waterloo Wolves AAA Major Midget putting up 27 points.
Chard made his debut on Thursday night assisting on a Seamus Mooney goal in the second period. The Canes lost to Brantford 4-2.
