The Guelph Hurricanes are pleased to welcome new new additions, Matt Murray and Keanan Stewart, who they acquired via a trade with the Elmira Sugar Kings. In exchange the Canes sent forward Braydon Munn.
Murray is a 19-year old defenseman who has played with the Sugar Kings the past two seasons after beginning his Junior career playing in the NOJHL. In 22 games played this season the 6’0 blueliner has posted seven assists. During the 2016-17 championship run Murray scored five goals and 17 assists in 68 games.
17-year old Stewart played minor hockey for the Guelph Jr. Gryphons before signing with the Sugar Kings last season when hs score six times while adding seven assists in 55 games. The 6’3″ prospect has already shown improvement in his game while posting five goals and six assists already this season.
Hurricanes GM Steve Marshall was pleased with the additions while acknowledging the contributions of Munn saying, “we thank Braydon for his great play and leadership and wish him good luck in Elmira.”
Commenting on Murray and Stewart Marshall said, “We are thrilled to add them to our team; they are both exciting additions to the squad.”
