The Rocky Mountain Junior Hockey League will begin its third season on September 29 when the Steamboat Wranglers host Colorado Rampage in Steamboat Springs. Game time at Howelsen Ice Arena is scheduled for 9:15 PM.
2017-18 season will again see five teams competing for the RMJHL championship. The Aspen Leafs are sitting out this season on hiatus while the league returns to Breckenridge with the Breckenridge Bolts.
Colorado Thunderbirds will look to improve after missing the playoffs last season by just one point. The program saw its U18 team win the Rocky Mountain District Championship last season and hope that this success will carry over to their Junior team.
Pikes Peak Miners are the reigning champion after a dominating 2016-17 which saw the team finish with a record of 32-8-0-0. The Miners swept their first round opponent Rampage before defeating Steamboat in three games of their best-of three finals.
Their will be new bench bosses around the league this season with the addition of two head coaches. Kory DeKoevend will lead the new Bolts while Pat Bingham will now guide the Rampage Junior team.
