Greaves earns second shutout to down Brantford

It took just :51 for the Guelph Hurricanes to score the eventual game winning goal after a fine performance by the team defense and goaltender Jet Greaves. Guelph (2-0-1-0) would go on to defeat Brantford 4-0 to stay unbeaten in GOJHL play.

Ryan Sparkes scores the first of his two goals in that opening minute followed shortly by an unassisted effort from Bradley Smith. Sparkes second game with just :51 remaining in the period to give the Hurricanes a commanding 3-0 lead.

The second frame was more of the same with Guelph dominating play. Payton McLeish would make it 4-0 late in the period in which the Hurricanes outshot Brantford 14-5.

Greaves would finish the shutout with a slightly busier third making 10 of his 23 saves to wrap up his second straight scoreless game this season. The rookie goaltender, who was a 3rd Round draft pick by the Barrie Colts in the OHL Draft, has now made 44 saves giving up zero goals this season.

The Hurricanes will next take the ice on Sunday traveling to Elmira to face the Sugar Kings. Faceoff is scheduled for 2 PM.
