Palm Beach Hawks, a member of the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL), have announced the signing of forward Matt Newberger of South Lake Tahoe, California. The 19-year old joins the Hawks with one season of Junior hockey experience.
A 2016 graduate of South Tahoe High, Newberger is a product of the Golden State Elite Hockey program. In his final season of midget hockey the 5’9″ winger was part of the California Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) state champion and competed at the USA Hockey U18 Tier II National Tournament.
“I hope to play hockey in college and get a great education as well. I take every aspect of my hockey game seriously which includes off ice,” commented Newberger who past coaches all refer to as dedicated, smart and a hard worker.
Newberger played last season with the Billings Bulls, appearing in 34 games with a total of nine points. Playing with a team who struggled to find wins Newberger is anxious to compete as well as playing in the sun once again.
“I will not give up until I accomplish my goals of playing hockey in college.”
