The Western States Hockey League (WSHL) has announced that it has approved the transfer of membership and purchase of the Tulsa Jr. Oilers by Brass Roots Hockey, LLC and owner Brad Allen.
Brad Allen is a contractor from New Orleans, Louisiana, who works in the hospitality industry renovating hotels. He has been in the construction industry for 43 years, owning and operating a construction company for 28 years. Allen has been involved in hockey for 17 years as a hockey dad/coach and has served on the Board of Directors of Southern Louisiana SLIHC. He had a partial ownership in St. Tammany Skate Rink and organized New Orleans High School Hockey playing throughout the State of Louisiana.
The team will continue as the Tulsa Jr. Oilers and will be entering their sixth season in the WSHL. The team will continue with current head coach Marty Magers. Marty is entering his 4th season as head coach of the Oilers. In addition, Brad has added former NAHL coach Tony Curtale as the advisor and consultant for the team.
“We’re excited for this opportunity to build a program that develops players and moves them on to higher levels,” states Tony Curtale. “We want to bring championships to Tulsa and be a location in the WSHL that moves players on to college and pro hockey. Tulsa has proven to be a community that supports junior hockey and has a great fan base. We will embrace the community and take junior hockey in Tulsa to a very high level.”
