CPJHL All Stars Close Shootout With Victory

Coming into their final game of the Western States Shootout after two-consecutive overtime losses, the CPJHL All Stars were ready for a win. That is exactly what the group accomplished defeating the Tier II Arizona Hawks in dominating fashion 5-1.

Team CPJHL, a group put together without ever playing together, took command early when Masaki Watanabee opened scoring. Three goals in a :47 time frame had the All Stars on top 4-0 with just over six minutes remaining in the opening half.

Jack Shaver scored the second goal to make the score 2-0. That was followed by a pair from Cameron Scrivens for a 4-0 lead. Skylar Robertson, who is third among CPJHL leading scorers,  assisted on both Scrivens goals.

17-year old Shaver scored his second of the night 2:23 into the second half to make the score 5-1. That is how the game finished despite the All Stars out shooting Arizona 41-28.

Brian Tempel (Grey Highlands Hawks) earned the victory in net making 27 saves. A 20-year old native of Ohio, Tempel stopped 66 of 70 (.943 save%) shots faced in two games played at the showcase.
