Thunderbirds, Rampage Split Weekend Series

The Colorado Thunderbirds and Steamboat Rampage met at Old Foothills Ice Rink in Lakeland over the weekend with each team picking up a victory. Both games were extremely competitive, with the Sunday finale being a one-goal game.

Kameron Fink was the offensive star in game one scoring a hat trick for Steamboat, who defeated the home team 6-4. The Aurora native scored a goal in every period, including the game winner at the midway point of the third. Trevor DiLauro stopped 35 of 39 shots to earn his third victory of the season.

Jarod Ackerman (Westminster) and Joe Lasasso (Aurora) each scored a goal and added an assist for the Thunderbirds who out shot the Rampage 39-33.

On Sunday the teams returned to Lakewood and the Thunderbirds (3-10-0-1) earned a victory, 4-3. Both goaltenders were busy with the home side outshooting their opponent 47-45.

Four different goal scorers (Anthony Flores, Levi Clemenson, Devin Coomb and Alec Dekramer) helped Colorado earn the two points.
Farmington (MN) product Gage Overby made 42 saves (.933 save%) to earn his second win against Steamboat this season. The 20-year old played with Billings last season.

The Thunderbirds are idle next weekend while Steamboat will make a trip to Aspen for a pair of games against the Leafs.
