The Hanover Tachi Junior Hockey League, which is celebrating its 30th season, got underway this weekend in Manitoba. Four of seven league teams were in action with the remaining three getting a chance to watch their competition.
Jeremy Anstett of Red River Mudbugs scored the first goal of the season on his way to a hat trick helping the Mudbugs down Mitchell Mohawks 6-3. His linemate Sam Friesen assisted on all three goals while scoring one of his own to finish a four-point night.
It took over 22 minutes before Zach Cumming scored first for the Steinbach Huskies, but it would not be the last goal against the Springfield Xtreme. The two teams battled back-and-forth all night ending in a 5-5 tie. Springfield earned the extra point in the standing winning the shootout.
