Six games on the road to begin the season gave the Willmar WarHawks some time to prepare for their first-ever home game at Willmar Civic Center on Saturday. With every “first” there are some glitches (internet connectivity caused online broadcast issues), but on the ice the WarHawks delivered – defeating New Ulm Steel 5-2.
An announced crowd of 1,021 witnessed the first Junior hockey game in Willmar and according to Head Coach Chris Blaisuis they were a factor, saying, “they were incredible.”
The WarHawks are back at the Willmar Civic Center on Friday again facing the Steel. Game time is scheduled for 7:10 PM. Heritage Bank of Willmar is sponsoring the game and will give away WarHawks stocking caps to the first 150 fans. Be sure to arrive early!
