Just three games remain to be played in the Hanover Tachi Junior Hockey League regular season and not much has been decided. Steinbach Huskies clinched the top seed for the playoffs with a victory over Springfield Xtreme on Wednesday.
The remaining playoff positions are up for grabs with just one game remaining for each team. In a fight for third place, Red River Mudbugs (22 points) lead Springfield by just one point. A win by the Mudbugs will guarantee the third seed, but a loss combined with a Springfield victory will see the two teams flip flop in the final standings.
Defending league champion Grunthal Red Wings (14 points) is currently in fifth place, just one point ahead of Mitchell Mohawks. To clinch the fifth seed Mitchell will need a victory on the road Saturday along with some help from Red River, who face Grunthal.
The regular season winner and second place team receive a bye into the quarterfinals. They will await the two first round winners playing a best-of five series. All quarterfinal, semifinal and final series are best-of seven.
