Another calendar year has come and nearly gone. In the world of football (aka: soccer) in the U.S. things are changing at a rapid pace. MLS, NASL, and USL Pro have all experienced growth and expansion, but none at the pace of the National Premier Soccer League.
Over the past two years the NPSL has added 49 expansion teams. Several clubs could not sustain, but the interest in the league is there and 2015 looks to be no exception.
Confirmed expansion (as of December 27, 2014):
Unconfirmed additions:
- Miami Fusion
- Weston FC
Departures:
- Del Rey City SC (moved to UPSL)
- FC Bordo St. Louis
- FC Lehigh Valley United Sonic (moved to PDL)
- FC Santa Clarita (moved to UPSL)
- Gorge FC
- Gate City FC
- Inter United FC
- Sporting Seattle FC (playing PASL indoor)
- Tampa Bay Marauders (moved to new CSL)
Congratulations to Tampa on their move to the CSL, I guess, although I don’t know how anyone takes a league seriously that uses Comic Sans on their web site.
Don’t be a hater, Tim. We love Comic Sans. What better way to show that your league is kid- and family-friendly than with a fun font?
