Unseeded Anoka (15-6-1) strung together three-straight upsets in 10 days to capture the Class AA MSHSL Boys Soccer state title, their first since 2007. The Tornado stopped second-seeded Maple Grove 2-1 in the semifinal before defeating Wayzata 2-1 in the final.
In Class A second-seed St. Cloud Apollo (21-0-2) took advantage of the hometown site (St. Cloud State) defeating Mankato West 1-0 and top-seed De La Salle 1-0 to win their first-ever soccer championship. Apollo became just the second public school to win a Class A boys soccer championship. Mahtomedi (2009) is the only other public school to win a title in the 18-year history of the two-class format.
