Minneapolis Southwest, North St. Paul Among Nations Elite

The first national high school poll was recently released by the NSCAA and it features two Twin Cities area teams: Minneapolis Southwest HS and North St. Paul HS. While not ranked in the top 25, both teams received votes.

Two Wisconsin school are included in the top 25 as Milwaukee powerhouse Marquette University HS is at No. 5 while Kettle Moraine HS comes in at No. 21. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw on August 30.

North St. Paul HS (4-1-1) opened their season with a 2-2 draw at Marquette University HS. The Polars are led by senior identical twins Justin and Tyler Oliver who have scored 17 of 20 team goal so far this season.

Southwest HS is undefeated at 5-0-0 after a 3-1 victory on Saturday over preseason Minneapolis City Conference favorite South HS . The next test for the Lakers will come on Wednesday as they face Minnesota Class A #2-ranked Benilde-St. Margaret’s in St. Louis Park. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 PM.

Zach Neiberger anchors the Southwest team and is considered one of the top prospect among Minnesota seniors this season. The 4-year varsity player was named Star Tribune Metro Player of the Week on September 2.
