TwinStars FC pregame warmup.
In a rainy late afternoon, the Minnesota TwinStars FC and Quad City Eagles played 90+ minutes and could not decide a winner. Instead both clubs earned a point in the NPSL standings with a 2-2 result. It was the season opener for Minnesota, while Quad City (0-1-1) earned their first point of the season after a 1-0 home loss against Madison last weekend.
Minnesota opened scoring early in the match, as Hamad Jaman (5’) finished a perfect setup from Keido Pour. Quad City tied the match in the 24’ when Craig Butcher scored on an assist from Graham Nugent.
The TwinStars would quickly regain the lead though when Adama Diawara (29’) finished off a header from an assist by Patrick Serebour. Minnesota would take the 2-1 lead into halftime.
The Eagles opened the second half scoring quickly and made the score 2-2 why Butcher (48’) scored his second of the match on a chip shot over TwinStars keeper Eric Hundevad. Another 40+ minutes could not find a game winner and the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
