Mathieu Chernauckas has played goaltender during his hockey career. He’s won a state title his Senior season at Detroit Catholic Central in 2024 and was named state tournament MVP by the Michigan High School Hockey Coaches Association.
To-date, Chernauckas has posted a 4.99 GAA and .905 save% in 15 games played – in net.
Last weekend the 20-year old skated as a forward for the Butte Irish, who found themselves shorthanded after a number of suspensions following the previous game against Gillette. Chernauckas found his footing in the second game of the weekend when he scored his first career NA3HL goal. The Irish fell short in the matchup against Bozeman Icedogs 3-1.

Butte now turn their attention to the final weekend of their season when they will face Great Falls Americans in a home-and-home series. The Irish host on Friday before closing out the season Saturday night in Great Falls.
