OCN Storm played a three-game week for the first time this season taking four of six points to remain on top of the KJHL standings. The Storm are 3-1-0 after four games with a showdown with defending league champion Peguis Juniors coming up next weekend.
The Storm downed the Norway House North Stars 7-3 to open their three games in 21 hours. Despite doubling the shot total of Norway House the Storm found themselves trailing in the game 3-1 at the 8:06 mark of the second period.
Chavez Constant started the comeback scoring his first of two goals before intermission to make it 3-2. The OCN offense exploded in the third with five goals on 21 shots spoiling the 51-save effort of North Stars goaltender Dominic Bernitic.
Keith Monias netted a hat trick to lead all scorers. Bryson Werbicki-Mallet scored a goal and two assists to power the offense.
OCN next hit the road to face NCN Flames, who were making their season debut. Another slow start proved costly in this one with NCN picking up a 5-4 win.
The Flames had a 4-0 advantage before a furious comeback saw the Storm tie in late in the third. Werbicki-Mallet scored a natural hat trick beginning with a shorthanded tally at 3:44. A pair of powerplay markers made it 4-3 with 2:09 to go in regulation.
OCN tied it at 1:39 when Noah Butler found the back of the net. After ending a 56 minute scoring draught the Storm put up four goals in a 2:05 stretch.
NCN would spoil the comeback with the game winner scored at :09 by Keistin Saunders.
Despite the disappointing loss OCN bounced back the next day to defeat NCN 5-2. Five different goal scorers contributed to the Storm offense while Braxton Constant made 36 saves in the win.
