The Cleveland City Stars (3-15-7) snapped a 13-game winless streak by defeating the Minnesota Thunder on Saturday, 1-0. Stars striker Teteh Bangura scored the only goal of the game in the 23rd minute and goalkeeper Hunter Gilstrap made 3 saves to earn the clean sheet. The loss was a big blow to the Thunder playoff hopes as they remained eight points behind the final playoff spot.
Minnesota (4-11-8; 20 pts.) currently sit in 9th place of the USL First Division with the top seven teams advancing to the league playoffs. The Thunder trail seventh-place Vancouver Whitecaps (28 points) and eighth-place Miami FC Blues (25 pts.) in the standings with just seven games remaining.

The City Stars and Thunder will rematch in Blaine on Thursday, August 27. Game time at the National Sports Center is 7:05 PM.
